Ever since I've been a little girl I've dreamed of visiting New York City. I still can't believe it took so many years to all come together. I guess it took moving to the East coast and me turning 30 [not yet folks.. .later this year] to make it happen.
I started planning the trip in early 2014 when I scored an amazing flight deal. Once our flights were booked, I started researching hotels. We narrowed it down to a couple hotels in Chelsea/Meatpacking District and decided on the Standard at the Highline. What a good choice it was! We ended up arriving to the hotel at 3 am due to a delayed flight. But, it was totally worth it and we couldn't go to sleep because we were so excited to check out our room and the view. The camera photos don't do it justice, but the view was incredible.
Our hotel in all it's glory... don't the clouds look fake?

Our first stop after a quick breakfast at Doughnut Plant was the Empire State Building. We bought tickets ahead of time and we opted to visit the two floors - the 86th floor observatory and 102nd floor observatory. Mt favorite part was the 86th floor observatory which is just so iconic. We probably looked out onto the city for over an hour, going from side to side. I liked how they labeled the directions so you could tell where you were looking onto. We spotted our hotel and the Flatiron building pretty quickly. But mostly I was just in awe. I still can't believe they crammed all those buildings into such a tiny space.
We walked around the Flatiron district and made our way towards lunch at Shake Shack near Times Square.
We had originally planned to walk to and around Central Park but decided to rearrange our schedule and go to Central Park on Friday. After lunch we rode the Subway {so easy and streamlined, we loved it} back to the hotel and napped and relaxed. We had to rest up for the Yankees game that night.
After the game, we had 10:00 dinner reservations for Gramercy Tavern. We had a prix-fixe 7 course meal and it was delicious! I'm so glad we tried it. They even gave us muffins to have for breakfast the next morning. Seriously, I love those little touches.
xoxo,
Kim
