Charleston's Southern Charm

Jake and I spent Memorial Day weekend in the charming city of Charleston, SC. Can you believe it was our first time visiting and it's only a 3 hour drive from Charlotte! We planned it kind of last minute so hotels and B&B's were limited but we ended up finding a room at The Elliott House Inn which dates back to the 1800's.

It's so incredible to see such history in a city - especially since we live in Charlotte now, which is a relatively new city.  We ate amazing food at Husk, The Macintosh and Poogan's Porch, walked around King Street until our feet were sore and finally, just relaxed a bit.  This was our first trip but I don't think it will be our last to the Holy City.  We definitely fell in love with it!

Here are some snaps from our 3 day weekend:

Jake and I are heading to NYC on Tuesday and I can barely contain my excitement. It will also be our first time to the Big Apple. It's been so great living on the East coast and getting to explore the other side of the country.

A Hotel Life

Have you heard of A Hotel Life? It's a new site where real contributors (like me) post reviews of unique hotels. If you know me, you know I love a good hotel. People are always saying, yeah, but you really don't spend that much time in your room -- but I'm like, yeah, but when I do I want to feel comfortable, like I'm living large and treating myself. So, I splurge on hotels. Hotels and food. Those are my two vices. And shopping. OK, three.

Something New

I have a confession.

I have been reading fashion/style blogs for years now and I've always wanted to do an outfit post but never had the courage to do one. The blog posts I've read always looked so thought out and perfectly curated.  I thought to myself, I could never be one of those bloggers because I wasn't pretty or skinny enough. But, I decided that was the wrong attitude and I could definitely try my hand at it. All I needed was a cool backdrop. So, here goes.....

On Location: Main Street, Davidson, NC

What I'm Wearing: JCREW Factory blouse {similar} | JCREW Factory Gigi Pants | Loren Hope Carina Necklace | Rayban Sunglasses | Marc by Marc Jacobs Handbag | Madewell Booties

I hoped you liked my new foray into outfit posts!

ICELAND's Blue Lagoon ((Day 7))

Well, the last day of our Iceland recap is here. I'm sad that's it's over, but happy that it happened. We work up early, ate breakfast at the hotel for the last time, checked out and took the bus to the Blue Lagoon... our very last stop before the airport.

The Blue Lagoon was truly a once in a lifetime experience! It's a geothermal man-made lagoon filled with water (the entire pool is drained and refilled every 48 hours) which is believed to have healing powers. The lagoon is fed by the water output of a nearby geothermal plant.

There were only a few cons: It was more touristy than I imagined it would be and it was also pretty expensive.

The good news is that we had vouchers included in our Travel Zoo package - we got the entrance fee, an extra algae mask, and a drink all included. There was silica all over so you could literally just pull it from the sides of the pool and use it on your face as a mask. Our skin was so soft after we rinsed off the silica and our algae mask. We spent a couple hours basking in the thermal pool (temp: nearly 104 degrees).

Iceland - we had an amazing time! You honestly exceeded all of our expectations and we cannot wait to come back. We promise we will! As always, any travel or Iceland questions... ask away!

xoxo,
Kim
